RBC Heritage: Why Harbour Town Golf Links Is One of the Most Unique Courses on the PGA Tour

There’s a version of golf we all think we understand.

Big drives. Long courses. Players overpowering everything in front of them.

And then there’s the RBC Heritage.

⛳ A PGA Tour Event That Feels Different

Played at Harbour Town Golf Links, the RBC Heritage comes right after The Masters - which means it has to follow one of the most iconic tournaments in golf.

Instead of trying to compete with Augusta…

It does something smarter.

It becomes completely different.

Harbour Town is one of the shortest courses on the PGA Tour:

  • ~7,100 yards

  • Par 71

  • Tight, tree-lined fairways

  • Greens averaging ~3,700 square feet

This is not a course where distance wins.

This is a course where precision wins.

Designed by Pete Dye with input from Jack Nicklaus, Harbour Town is built around strategy.

Angles and position matter. Every shot has a purpose.

It’s not about hitting the ball far…..it’s about hitting it correctly.

🏆 Winning Here Isn’t Easy

Some players figure it out.

Davis Love III has won here five times—an incredible record.

Others?

They come back year after year and never win. Because this course doesn’t reward power, it exposes mistakes.

Instead of a green jacket, the winner of the RBC Heritage receives a tartan jacket, a nod to golf’s Scottish origins.

It’s a small detail, but it gives the tournament its own identity.

Of course the winner also receives a good chunk of change….roughly $3.6 million!
